About Plagiarism:
Plagiarism is an academic offense which can ruin academic and research reputation of any academicians or the parent institute. It degrades academic standard and creates a negative impact on the professional front as well. It is an act of academic misconduct which can broadly be defined as using another person’s words or ideas without giving credit to that person. Use of Internet in day to day lives makes plagiarism issue a very serious and critical one. Plagiarism through ignorance happens sometimes but in a majority of the cases plagiarism happens deliberately, even poor vigilance can also offer a mean to plagiarize. Therefore, the purpose of the document is to establish and ensure a framework, based on ethical guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) through its notification ‘Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Institutions, 2018’ Regulations dated July 31, 2018.

JUIT is making use of software to detect plagiarism in project reports, dissertations and theses. Currently, JUIT has been using following tools for curbing plagiarism
TURNTIN:
Turnitin is a leading anti-plagiarism software used at JUIT to promote academic integrity and originality in student submissions. It helps educators and students identify potential instances of plagiarism by comparing submitted work against a vast database of scholarly publications, websites, and student papers.

DrillBit
NFLIBNET Centre is providing DrillBit-Extreme ‘Plagiarism Detection Software’ to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) under the ShodhShudhi Programme. JUIT has the access to DrillBit under the same.- DrillBit (login page – https://www.drillbitplagiarismcheck.com/auth/login)

SIMILARITY PLAGIARISM VERIFICATION PROCESS AT JUIT:
The plagiarism form hard copy is available at the circulation counter of the LRC, or you can download it from the LRC website in PDF format.
STEP 1:
Please fill in the form with complete required information and submit it to the LRC Circulation Counter for further verification process. (Incomplete form shall not be entrained)
STEP 2:
The guide/supervisor will send the following documents on the given email: plagcheck.juit@gmail.com along with the following documents.
- Document 1: Complete thesis/dissertation from title page to last page (ready to submit to the University) in PDF/Doc format.
- Document 2: Title page, abstract and chapters only in Word/Doc format only (exclude preliminary pages and references).
Kindly Note:
- Please use this facility only in case, of final submissions of theses/dissertations/reports etc. of research scholar/post graduate students, to the university.
Checking of the draft thesis/chapters, articles please approach the guide/supervisor or concerned faculty of your department.
- Checking of similarity index of Under Graduate level courses shall be done by the concerned guide supervisor or faculty members only.
