Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat participated in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mandi Sports Meet (RANN NEETI-14) from 19th -21st September, 2014. The university sent a contingent of 62 players consisting of following teams:
The Basketball (Men) team consisting of dedicated players under the Captainship of Mr. Ankit Jain (CSE, IV Yr. Student) won the tournament. The team defeated Thapar University, Patiala in the final by handsome margin. The basketball team has been performing consistently well in last one year. In 2013-14 AIU North Zone Basketball (MEN) Tournament, they have defeated powerful teams like Invertis, HNBU, Garhwal and HPKV, Palampur Universities to qualify for pre-quarter final.
The men and women teams of Table Tennis (TT) won matches at league stages to qualify for semi-finals. Both the teams exhibited high quality of games and fought well against opposition before going down.
Badminton, Cricket and Volleyball teams have also performed very well in their qualifying matches. The teams left their imprints at IIT, Mandi by winning hearts of students.
The honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. SK Kak and Director, Brig. Balbir Singh congratulated the Captains Mr. Ankit (Basketball), Mr. Srajan (TT), Ms. Pulkita (TT), Mr. Simarpreet (Badminton), Mr. Saurabh (Cricket), Mr. Prashant (Volleyball) and Mr. Kush (Football) and players for their committed efforts. The JUIT community expects the teams to maintain the momentum and bring many laurels in coming days.
